Position Overview

The Feeding Technician is responsible for feeding the 650 cows on MTDF LLC. This also means cleaning off bunker silos and bags of bad feed. Chopping Straw weekly, grinding corn daily, and keeping work areas clean daily. Auger setup when feed is delivered.

 

 

Essential Job Functions

  • Must start feeding cows at 6:00 am daily, and be done feeding by 12:00 pm Feeding takes around 6 hrs. and other duties around 2 hrs. Must work every other weekend.

  • Must mix accurate TMR Batches, and mix the required time. each batch is tracked by feeding software.

  • Must add all additives correctly will be tracked by Supervisor.

  • Must maintain all feeding equipment on a weekly basis, Wheel Loader, Mixer, Tractor, and feeding skid steers and entered into maintenance software.

  • Must maintain clean Commodity Shed, Forage bags, and Corn Silage bunkers.

  • Must clean off mold and cut plastic on Corn Silage Bunkers and Forage Bags.

  • Must grid corn daily (except weekends) and keep equipment clean and maintained.

  • Must chop wheat straw for dry cows weekly or as needed and keep equipment clean and maintained.

  • Must setup up auger for feed deliveries and maintain auger, supervisor will let person know when scheduled.

 

Non-essential Job Functions

  • Possibly drive tractor as needed during planting, harvest, and manure seasons.

  • Possibly drive truck as needed during harvest and manure seasons.

  • Possibly cut wood or do other odd jobs as needed or if hours desired.

  • Possibly help in the Service Department as needed.

 

Requirements

  • A high-school diploma and driver’s license is required. 1 to 2 years of college in agriculture preferred.

  • Must self-motivated and a hard worker as this is not an “easy” position on-time and reliant.

  • Some Computer knowledge required, feeding software and scale are computerized. Will Train as needed.

  • An agriculture equipment background is preferred, but not required, however must have knowledge on how to drive Tractors and Wheel Loaders.

  • Must be a Team Player!

  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

  • Must be able to lift 70 lbs.

  • Must have good communication skills and have attention to detail.

 

Other Skills/Abilities

  • There are areas available here to be able to advance and get more responsibilities and more compensation.

  • Good problem solving skills

  • Some math skills may be needed
